USAID Helps Save the Lives of Linemen

Islamabad, May 25, 2012: The United States Government through the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) “Quick Impact Lineman Training Program” will help in save thousands of linemen in Pakistan. At the concluding session of today’s training program held at the WAPDA Staff College, the deputy chief of party of USAID’s Power Distribution Program officially handed over linemen safety training tools to the Regional Training Center (RTC) of Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO.

USAID to provide technical assistance to improve efficiency of tube-wells in IESCO by installing 2600 LT Capacitors.

Islamabad, April 26, 2012:The United States Agency for International Development (USAID)’s Power Distribution Program, in cooperation with the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) has started installation of Low Tension (LT) capacitors on rural tube-wells in two selected feeder of Taxila sub-division of IESCO. Currently the project is assisting Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO), Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) and IESCO in capacitors installation.

“USAID and HEC approves scholarships to 41 deserving students

Islamabad;( Report) February 16th, 2012 USAID approved fully funded need based scholarships to a total of 41 deserving students of Institute of Management Sciences (IM|Sciences), Peshawar. The decision was made in the Scholarship Management Committee (SMC) meeting held on 14th February 2012, in Higher Education Commission (HEC) Islamabad. This meeting was chaired by the Executive Director HEC, Dr. Sohail H. Naqvi and Education Director USAID, Mrs. Jo Lesser.

U.S. Donates Tents for Disaster Relief

Islamabad ( Report)February 15, 2012 – The U.S. Government delivered more than 800 tents today to the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), strengthening its ability to quickly respond in the event of a disaster.

USAID signs 7 MoUs with Pak Universities

While Pakistan-United States strategic relations continue to remain strained, cooperation in the field of education continues to grow. To reaffirm the support, Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) were signed on Wednesday between seven universities of Pakistan and U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The signing ceremony took place at the Higher Education Commission (HEC) in the presence of Vice Chancellors of the seven universities.
