“Corruption and lack of accountability undermine countries" -UNDP enters new partnerships supporting increasing accountability

Islamabad, 12 December 2017 – To mark Anti-Corruption Day celebrated on 9 December, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Pakistan initiated two new agreements to develop innovative solutions to end corruption and increase accountability. The agreements were signed by the Country Director, Ignacio Artaza, representing UNDP Pakistan, and Fayyaz Yasin of Accountability Lab and Syed Raza Ali of the Peace and Justice Network, respectively.

Female students celebrate United Nations Day 2017 with Female Ambassadors & Female Experts

Rawalpindi(Staff Reporter+APP) Students from Fatima Jinnah Women University celebrated United Nations Day with female ambassadors, heads of cooperation agencies and heads of UN agencies. Some 120 students interacted directly with the international experts and got advice on best practices for a successful international career.

Oxfam Celebrates World Food Day at Arid Agriculture University

ISLAMABAD Tuesday 17 October: Participants at a seminar and awareness walk at the Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University on Tuesday called on policymakers to make investments to improve people’s resilience to climate change. The seminar was part of the activities being organized by Oxfam in Pakistan to celebrate GROW week to raise awareness about climate change, food insecurity and the importance of agriculture and rural development. 

UN agencies join hands to implement global program for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) survivors in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan: Under the leadership of UN Resident Coordinator Neil Bhune, UN Women, UN Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC), UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday, signed contracts to roll out the joint global program on Essential Services Package (ESP) for women and girls subjected to violence in Pakistan.

Public Transport Safe for Women- Pilot launched in Lahore

Islamabad-08 June 2017: In making public transportation facilities accessible, ‘safe’ and ‘harassment-free’ for women and girls, a pilot has been launched in Lahore, Punjab, to conduct women’s safety audit in public transport to assess women’s perceptions of safety as well as actual safety, and increase their participation in local decision-making. Internationally recognized as a ‘best practice’, a women’s safety audit tool is being introduced in Pakistan for the first time.


Islamabad (Ume Laila +PR) Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Marryam Aurangzeb has said that Government supports freedom of media and press in true sence and spirit. Women journalists are playing important role in the media organisations. Government is providing them level playing field and equal opportunities , not only in media but in all walks of life. She referred to steps taken for protection of women rights at work place.

Number of drug dependent adults up for first time in six years, now at 29 million: UNODC World Drug Report 2016

Islamabad,  20 July 2016 –  World Around five per cent of the adult population, or nearly 250 million people between the ages of 15 and 64, used at least one drug in 2014, according to the latest World Drug Report released on last month on 23rd in Geneva/New York/Vienna by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). Although substantial, this figure has not grown over the past four years in proportion to the global population.

NDMA plans major initiatives in collaboration with UNDP for Year 2016

Islamabad - Project Review Board (PRB) meeting was held at NDMA Islamabad today to review progress of 2015 projects and those that will be jointly implemented by NDMA and the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), Pakistan as part of the Annual Work Plan for the year 2016.
