The rising population numbers are likely to outstrip developmental gains, and continue to adversely affect the economy, environment, health, education and quality of the lives of all citizens.

PAKISTAN- UNDP LAUNCH DATA REPORTING GAPS STUDY AND A COMPREHENSIVE WEBSITE ON SGDS

Islamabad: 9th July 2018-Dr. Shamshad Akhtar, Minister for PD&R formally launched the website and the Data Reporting Gaps Study, while Secretary Planning Mr. Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui gave his welcome remarks. The aforementioned Data Reporting Gaps Study was launched at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Planning Development & Reform, Islamabad. 

SDC and UNDP join hands to foster evidence-based development policy in Pakistan

“Corruption and lack of accountability undermine countries" -UNDP enters new partnerships supporting increasing accountability

Islamabad, 12 December 2017 – To mark Anti-Corruption Day celebrated on 9 December, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) in Pakistan initiated two new agreements to develop innovative solutions to end corruption and increase accountability. The agreements were signed by the Country Director, Ignacio Artaza, representing UNDP Pakistan, and Fayyaz Yasin of Accountability Lab and Syed Raza Ali of the Peace and Justice Network, respectively.

Oxfam Celebrates World Food Day at Arid Agriculture University

ISLAMABAD Tuesday 17 October: Participants at a seminar and awareness walk at the Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University on Tuesday called on policymakers to make investments to improve people’s resilience to climate change. The seminar was part of the activities being organized by Oxfam in Pakistan to celebrate GROW week to raise awareness about climate change, food insecurity and the importance of agriculture and rural development. 

UN agencies join hands to implement global program for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) survivors in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD – Pakistan: Under the leadership of UN Resident Coordinator Neil Bhune, UN Women, UN Office on Drugs and Crimes (UNODC), UN Population Fund (UNFPA) and World Health Organization (WHO) on Tuesday, signed contracts to roll out the joint global program on Essential Services Package (ESP) for women and girls subjected to violence in Pakistan.

Public Transport Safe for Women- Pilot launched in Lahore

Islamabad-08 June 2017: In making public transportation facilities accessible, ‘safe’ and ‘harassment-free’ for women and girls, a pilot has been launched in Lahore, Punjab, to conduct women’s safety audit in public transport to assess women’s perceptions of safety as well as actual safety, and increase their participation in local decision-making. Internationally recognized as a ‘best practice’, a women’s safety audit tool is being introduced in Pakistan for the first time.
