Pak-Turk economic partnership to be promoted in Punjab: Shahbaz

LAHORE: Pakistanintheworld.com Report; May 06-2012-- Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that Turkey is the second rapidly progressing economy of the world and economic activities will be promoted in Punjab province through increasing economic contacts with Turkish business institutions.
He expressed these views while addressing an inaugural ceremony of 2-day Turkish Cultural Festival held under the aegis of Pak-Turk Businessmen Association at a local hotel on Saturday.

Turkish Airlines, Turkey’s national flag carrier was founded in Ankara on May 20, 1933 under the name of “State Airlines Administration” and started its operations depending on Ministry of Defense. In 1955, it was restructured into “Turkish Airlines”. 25% of the company is sold under the privatization program in 2005. Today 49.1 % of the company is owned by Privatization Administration and the rest of the shares are on free float.


ISLAMABAD 24 FEBRUARY 2012:  First Batch of three F-16 Block 15 MLU(Mid Life Upgrade) aircraft have arrived from Ankara, Turkey. Theaircraft which were earlier sent to TAI (Turkish Aerospace Industries)for Mid Life Upgrade and have been delivered to PAF on time. InOctober 2010, PAF had signed a contract with TAI to upgrade all its F-16 Block 15 aircraft. Under the Peace Drive II program, TAI is performing avionics and structural modernization of F-16 aircraft that are on the inventory of Pakistan Air Force since 1982-83 and the project is planned to be completed by September 2014.

Turkey delivers modernized F-16 aircraft to Pakistan

He was accompanied by the Turkish Ambassador to Pakistan H.E. Mr. Babur Hizlan. A team of IPRI scholars led by Acting President Dr. Maqsudul Hasan Nuri had a discussion with the visitors on the South Asia region, particularly Afghanistan, and the role of Turkey. Mr. Babur Girgin explained that to Turkey, the South Asia region includes all countries from Iran to Bangladesh.

57 Pak firms among top 500 in emerging economies

LAHORE: An international survey has ranked 57 Pakistani firms among the top 500 companies of the emerging economies of Arabia and Turkey, with 27 showing three years of consecutive growth ranging from 109 to 1,918 percent.

All World Network conducted a survey of companies in 15 emerging economies of Middle East, North Africa, Turkey and Pakistan. It selected only those companies that had at least three years of operating history and minimum sales of $500,000 in sales.
