Norwegian parliament seeks early solution of Kashmir conflict

Pakistani descent women Hadia Tajik appointed Norway's Culture Minister

Oslo-Sep 22-Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg has appointed a Muslim woman as part of his government during a Cabinet reshufle this week. Hadia Tajik, 29, from Pakistani descent, was appointed on Friday as Norway’s minister of culture.

Hadia has become the first ever Muslim cabinet member and youngest ever government minister in the Scandinavian country.The newly appointed minister of culture has already publicized her program for the upcoming months and highlighted that cultural diversity should become an undisputable part of Norway’s everyday life.

Norway keen to promote cultural ties with Pakistan: envoy

ISLAMABAD, SEPT 21 (DNA) –Ms. Cecilie Landsverk Ambassador of Norway to Pakistan has said her country was keen to promote cultural ties with Pakistan. She said cultivating closer cultural ties with AJK was also a priority.
She made these remarks on the occasion of a cultural-musical show arranged at her residence. Musicians from Azad Kashmir took part in the show while the sports and culture minister of AJK was the chief guest on the occasion.

Norway marks massacre anniversary

Utoeya island-July 23, 2012-Norwegians have marked a year since right-wing extremist Anders Behring Breivik massacred 77 people, at a poignant memorial ceremony on the island of Utoeya, where most of his mainly teenage victims fell.'Let us honour the dead by celebrating life,' Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg said on Utoeya island, where Breivik gunned down 69 people in a summer camp for members of the Labour Youth League.

Stoltenberg was speaking to about 1000 members of the league, the youth section of the party, several of whom were survivors of last year's assault.

No threat to democracy in Pakistan: Kaira

ISLAMABAD, Jul 13 (APP): Minister for Information and Broadcasting Qamar Zaman Kaira said that there was no threat to democracy in the country and the civil society,judiciary, media and all other institutions were united on the issue of continuation of the democratic process. Speaking as chief guest at signing ceremony for cooperation between Norwegian embassy and South Asia Free Media Foundation here he said that political parities and national institutions have learnt a lot from the past.
