Pak-Iran mega gas pipeline project kicked off

CHABAHAR (Iran), March 11 (APP): Pakistan and Iran formally kicked off the long-awaited $ 7.5 billion gas pipeline project aimed at addressing the energy crisis in Pakistan.President Asif Ali Zardari and his Iranian counterpart Mahmoud Ahmadinehjadjointly inaugurated the final construction phase at a ceremony held in the Iranian city of Chabahar near Pak-Iran border. The 785-kilometre long pipeline on Pakistan’s side - from Iran’s border to Nawabshah- will help Pakistan overcome its energy shortage and spur economic growth.

President Zardari for early completion of Pak, Iran projects

ISLAMABAD, JAN 30 (Staff Reporter+ DNA) -President Asif Ali Zardari Wednesdy called for early finalization and implementation of Pak-Iran projects especially in the energy sector, transportation & connectivity and trade and commercial activities in order to promote greater bilateral cooperation on one hand and to bolster trade and economic ties at regional as well as bilateral level.

This he said during his meeting with Iranian delegation headed by Mr. Ali Akbar Velayati, Senior Adviser to the Supreme Leader of Iran on International Affairs here at Aiwan-e-Sadr today.

US envoy to Israel: US ready to strike Iran

JERUSALEM — May 18-2012-The US has plans in place to attack Iran if necessary to prevent it from developing nuclear weapons, Washington’s envoy to Israel said, days ahead of a crucial round of nuclear talks with Tehran.
Dan Shapiro’s message resonated Thursday far beyond the closed forum in which it was made: Iran should not test Washington’s resolve to act on its promise to strike if diplomacy and sanctions fail to pressure Tehran to abandon its disputed nuclear program.
Shapiro told the Israel Bar Association the US hopes it will not have to resort to military force.
