Islamabad (Tazeen Akhtar)The Visegrad Group countries’ ambassadors have pledged to strive for more vibrant and stronger Europe with an emphasis on European Union that it needs to make better contacts with the citizens to avoid further fragmentation after the Brexit.

HUNGARY-PAKISTAN SIGN AGREEMENT OF ECONOMIC COOPERATION

Islamabad;Finance Minister, Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar, witnessed the signing ceremony of the agreement on Economic Cooperation between Pakistan and Hungary at the Ministry of Finance on Tuesday.

Hungary sends aid to flood-struck Serbia and Bosnia

Budapest-A state of flood alert is currently in force along 263 kilometres of the country's rivers, the Hungarian Directorate General for Water (OVF) announced. The flood wave that has developed over recent days is peaking on the Danube in the Nagymaros area, with a water level that falls below level one alert limits. The Directorate General for Disaster Management (OKF) is maintaining a level three alert along 62 kilometres of the Hernád and 36 kilometres of the Lajta Rivers, with a level two alert along the Rába River and a 36 kilometre stretch of the Répce spillway.

HUNGARY WILL BE FORERUNNER IN THE REGION - PM VIKTOR ORBAN

Budapest-Hungary-Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has stated that voters had rejected hatred and leaving the European Union and said yes to the new public administration system, new economic policies and governance by a people's party.Fidesz has been given a clear mandate to continue its work, Prime Minister told an international press conference on Monday. He said there was no real significance regarding the pending results in the one or two districts where the outcome was still hanging in balance. The Government will first meet on Wednesday and assess the result of the election, he stated.

HUNGARY CELEBRATES 1848 REVOLUTION

Budapest-The national flag was hoisted in front of Parliament on Saturday morning, as the start of state celebrations marking the anniversary of Hungary's Revolution that broke out on 15 March 1848. The renovation of the Parliament building and Kossuth Square in front of it began in 2010 is a symbol of the renewal of the Hungarian State, Speaker of Parliament Laszló Kövér said inaugurating the square on Saturday morning.

HUNGARY ADOPTS NEW CIVIL CODE

Budapest-The new Civil Code entered into force on March 15th, replacing the previous legislation, which was modified more than a hundred times over the years and could no longer provide realistic answers to today’s economic and social challenges.

VISEGRAD COUNTRIES WOULD BE AFFECTED FROM SANCTIONS AGAINST RUSSIA

Budapest - Any European sanctions introduced against Russia would have the gravest impact on the Visegrad Group countries, Foreign Minister János Martonyi declared after a meeting of the V4 ministers with the German Foreign Minister in Budapest on Thursday.

Mr Martonyi stated that if EU put in effect a third stage of sanctions against Russia, Hungary would "expect solidarity" from other EU member states. He also urged that assistance to Ukraine should be speeded up in terms of trade, the EU-Ukraine association agreement, a planned financial package and energy supply.

Erasmus+ programme launched in Budapest

Budapest - A conference was organised on Wednesday in Budapest to mark the launching of the European Union's new Erasmus+ funding programme for education, training, youth and sport. The event was attended by Minister of Human Resources Zoltán Balog, who highlighted in his address that Hungary will receive EUR 31 million from the Erasmus+ programme in 2014, which is an 11% increase compared to the funding it received in 2013, with the amount increasing further each year until 2020.
