GERMANY - UNO READY TO HELP PAKISTAN ADDRESS CLIMATE CHANGE CHALLENGES

Islamabad - Monitoring Desk - Germany and the United Nations have expressed their willingness to help Pakistan address the challenge of climate change.

Participating in a panel discussion on climate change, organized Radio Pakistan's Current Affairs Channel, German Ambassador Dr Cyrill Nunn and Director UN Information Centre in Pakistan Vittorio Camarota said Pakistan is one of the worst victim of the climate change.

GERMAN DEPUTY MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS CALLS ON SARTAZ AZIZ

Islamabad: June 10, 2015 - Mr. Sartaj Aziz, Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs received the German Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Mr. Stephan Steinlein along with a 13 member strong business delegation today at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

GERMAN DELEGATION RAISES GSP PLUS RELATED CONVENTIONS' IMPLEMENTATION WITH HIGH OFFICIALS OF PAKISTAN

Islamabad- 29 May 2015 - Members of the Committee for Economic Cooperation and Development of the German Parliament (Bundestag), amongst them the Committee’s chairperson Ms. Dagmar Woehrl and the Vice-president of the German Bundestag, Ms. Claudia Roth, have arrived in Islamabad on Tuesday. The five parliamentarians have stayed in Pakistan for five days. Their visit focussed on discussing the further strengthening of German-Pakistani relations in terms of development cooperation.

GERMAN PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATION CALLS ON PRESIDENT AND SPEAKER

Islamabad: May 26, 2015 - President Mamnoon Hussain has said that the government is taking effective measures to curb terrorism, violation of human rights, discrimination against minorities and gender inequality in the country. The President said this while talking to a German Parliamentary Delegation who called on him at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Tuesday. The delegation was headed by Ms. Dagmar G. Wohrl, MP and Chairwoman of the Committee on Economic Cooperation and Development.

Germany provides more than 1 million EUR for the relief of IDPs

Islamabad - Germany supports the relief activities of the World Food Program (WFP) for the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in the north-west of Pakistan through a “twinning-project”.

The German grant of more than 129,000,000 PKR will be combined with an in-kind-grant of the Government of Pakistan with a donation of 6,863 metric tons wheat. This will enable WFP to provide fortified wheat flour to 510,000 beneficiaries, a total of 85,789 families, for one month in FATA region & Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

Berlin - Pakistan's Ambassador to Germany, Syed Hasan Javed has said that Pakistan has been pursuing a policy of peaceful relations with all its neighbors including India but unfortunately Pakistan's sincerity has not been reciprocated by the Indian leadership. India's unprovoked firing at the Line of Control (LOC) and working boundary has resulted in the death of more than a dozen innocent people.

PAK - GERMAN PARLIAMENTS WILL FURTHER STRENGTHEN GOOD AND AMICABLE RELATIONS

Islamabad: German Ambassador Dr Cyrill Nunn hosted a dinner for the Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and the Members of the National Assembly's Germany-Pakistan Friendship Group on 28 October 2014 at the German residence in Islamabad.

 

Among the high-ranking guests of the event were Mr Muhammad Baligh Ur Rehman, State Minister for Education and Training, Mr Stefano Gatto, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to Pakistan, and the heads of the five German political foundations represented in Pakistan.

GERMANY AND UNDP PARTNER TO SUPPORT DISPLACED PERSONS

Islamabad - Cyrill Nunn, German Ambassador to Pakistan, and Marc-Andre Franche, Country Director of UNDP in Pakistan, signed an agreement of 1 million euros at the German Embassy today to support the rehabilitation and return of displaced persons from the North Waziristan Agency of FATA. Tariq Orakzai, Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa also attended the signing agreement.

GERMANY ACKNOWLEDGES SERVICES OF MR. ANEES UR REHMAN

Islamabad-On the evening of 27 September 2014, Mr Anees ur Rehman, German Honorary Consul in Lahore, was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon by Ambassador Dr Cyrill Nunn.

The award was presented at a dinner held at the residence of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany in Islamabad.

During the ceremony, Mr Anees ur Rehman was acknowledged with great applause for the many years of performance as German Honorary Consul and his singular efforts to foster German-Pakistani relations.

GERMANY FOR EMPOWERING WOMEN OF PAKISTAN

Islamabad: The German Ambassador, Dr. Cyril Nunn, and the CEO of “White Ribbon Campaign Pakistan” Omer Aftab, signed a contract for a project addressing the issue of violence against women here on 22 September 2014.
