FRANCE-PAK SIGN CFA FOR HYDRO POWER

Islamabad - Ms. Nargis Sethi, Secretary of Economic Affairs Division (EAD), His Excellency Mr. Philippe Thiébaud, Ambassador of France, and Mr. Denis CASSAT, Country Director of the French Development Agency (AFD), signed the Credit Facility Agreements (CFAs) for the establishment of Pakistan 02 Hydropower projects.

This financing aims at completing the 02 hydropower projects with a total capacity to produce 785 MW.

French Ambassador reiterates importance of Women MDGs

Islamabad - The French Embassy to Pakistan organized a reception on the 7th of March to celebrate the International Women’s Day with prominent Pakistani women, including human rights activists, artists, scholars and independent workers. The event also gathered media representatives and foreign diplomats.

The Ambassador of France, HE Philippe Thiébaud, praised the courage and the continuous efforts of the women and men working in Pakistan to protect women’s rights, campaign for new laws and raise awareness about violence against women.

FRENCH AWARD TO MAJ GEN REHMAT

Islamabad- Philippe Thiébaud, the Ambassador of France in Pakistan hosted a reception at his residence on the occasion of the award of the National Order of Merit to Major General Rahmat Khan, who has been the Managing Director of Lafarge Pakistan since January 2008 and non executive Chairman of Board of Directors of Lafarge Pakistan since January 2013. The National Order of Merit is an order of the State awarded by the President of the French Republic, which was founded in 1963 by President Charles de Gaulle to reward French and foreign nationals for distinguished achievements.

UZMA ASLAM WINS FICTION PRIZE

Islamabad-The French Embassy Fiction Prize was received by Uzma Aslam Khan on Friday 7th February 2014 for her book « Thinner than skin ». The Ambassador of France Philippe Thiébaud has awarded the prize to the Pakistani writer during the fifth edition of the Karachi Literature Festival that took place from the 7th until the 9th February.

“Needs based Scholarship programme” - France announces the grant of Rs40 million to support a 200 scholarships programme

Islamabad (Education Reporter) Government of France through its Embassy in Pakistan has announced the grant of Rs40 million to support a 200 scholarships programme for needy university students at undergraduate and graduate level. This is the second phase of the programme that has already been financed in 2012 by the French government. In close collaboration with the Higher Education Commission and 10 Pakistani universities, these scholarships will be granted to the meritorious but unprivileged students.

FRANCE AND THE EUROPEAN UNION PROVIDE A 2.5 MILLION EUROS (370 MILLION PKR) GRANT FUNDING FOR THE FIRST PAKISTAN HYDROPOWER TRAINING INSTITUTE

Islamabad (Diplomatic Desk) France and European Union will fund the establishment of Pakistan Hydropower Training Institute (HPTI) at Mangla. Mr. Ali Reza Bhutta, Joint Secretary of Economic Affairs Division (EAD), His Excellency Mr. Philippe Thiébaud, Ambassador of France, and Mr. Denis CASSAT, Country Director of the French Development Agency (AFD), in the presence of Mr. Berend de Groot Director of cooperation at the European Union delegation signed the Grant funding agreement.

Over 185 companies have joined Pak-France business alliance: envoy

Islamabad (DNA) Mr. Philippe Thiebaud Ambassador of France to Pakistan has said, French-Pakistan relations are constantly on the move adding over 185 companies have joined Pakistan-France business alliance.

The French ambassador expressed these views while talking exclusively to DNA.

Mr. Philippe Thiebaud is a career diplomat. He presented his credentials to the President of Pakistan Asif Ali Zardari on December 22, 2011.

Golden Jubilee of Franco-German Friendship Treaty - Exceptional classical piano concert by Martine Mirabel-Pitté

Islamabad; 07 May 2013 { Diplomatic Reporter } Two big powers of Europe France and Germany are celeberating golden jubilee of their friendship this year. Franco-German Friendship Treaty was signed between the two great nations of this continent and the world. In that connection, the embassies of both the countries arranged a piano concert in which H.E Mr. Philippe Thiébaud, Ambassador of France to Pakistan, was the host. This exceptional classical piano concert on the 6th of May in Islamabad was the result of kind support of the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany.

Launch of the Travelling Expo on “Energy for a Sustainable World”

ISLAMABAD; 20 Mar 2013 { Diplomatic Reporter }“A two month travelling exhibition titled “Energy for a Sustainable World” is currently touring Pakistan after being launched by the French Ambassador to Pakistan, Mr. Philippe Thiébaud, the Secretary Ministry of Science & Technology, Mr. Akhlaq Ahmad Tahar, and the Chairman of the Pakistan Science foundation, Prof. Dr. Manzoor H. Soomro, on the 7th of March 2013 at the National Centre for Physics in Islamabad.

Celebrations of the International Week of French Speaking World in Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi

Islamabad; 19 March 2013 { Diplomatic Reporter } “H.E. Mr. Philippe Thiébaud, Ambassador of France to Pakistan, hosted a reception on the occasion of the International Week of French Speaking World (La Semaine Internationale de la Francophonie) on March 19, 2013 at the Serena. Ambassadors from the International Organisation of La Francophonie Member States and Observers attended the event and reiterated their commitment to promote exchanges between Pakistan and the French Speaking World.
