D-8 countries agree to promote intra-state cooperation

ISLAMABAD, Nov. 22 (DNA): D-8 countries have agreed to further promote intra-state trade and economic relations, said Islamabad Declaration signed by the leaders of D-8 leaders in Islamabad on Thursday.It said efforts will be made for peace‚ tolerance and strengthening of democracy. Democracy is the only system which can help boost economy. The declaration also said that private sector will be involved for enhancement of intra trade among the member countries. Besides‚ relations with the G-20‚ OIC‚ Arab League‚ ECO and SAARC will further be improved.

Jonathan Hands-over D-8 Chairmanship to Pakistan, Urges Closer Ties

Islamabad; Nov 22-President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday in Islamabad, handed over the chairmanship of the Summit of Heads State and Government of the Eight Developing Nations (D-8) to President Asif Zardari of Pakistan.

The ceremony took place at the opening of the Summit of the leaders of the D-8 held at the Presidential grounds in Islamabad,
the capital city of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD -Nov 22-Central banks of the Developing-8 countries Wednesday agreed on a “sustainable growth strategy” under which the member countries would lessen dependence on their traditional trade partners and focus on the regional blocs like the D-8.
