FIRST CASH ASSISTANCE TO SECONDARY GIRL STUDENTS USING BIOMETRICS IN FATA

The World Food Programme (WFP) has launched its first cash-based assistance for secondary school girls in Pakistan and is using biometric attendance data for the first time as part of its support to the FATA Secretariat education programme.

About 15,000 female students in 179 middle and high schools in 7 FATA Agencies and the Frontier Regions will take part in the innovative programme. Girls who attend at least 80 percent of classes each month will receive a cash grant of PKR 1000 (just under US$10).

Rawalpindi - 29 May 2015 -Newly appointed High Commissioner of Canada to Pakistan Ms.Heather Cruden called on Secretary Defence Lt Gen (Retd) Muhammad Alam Khattak here at the Ministry of Defence today.  She is taking up her new assignment in Pakistan and wanted to be appraised of the ongoing level of military cooperation between Pakistan and Canada. Canadian HC invites Pakistani entrepreneurs

Isalamabad (DNA) The Canadian High Commission Islamabad arranged an Investment Round Table for Pakistan entrepreneurs interested in seeking avenues of investment in Canada.

Greg Giokas, High Commissioner of Canada addressed the gathering and said “the Canadian Government is interested in attracting Foreign Direct Investment to facilitate economic growth for Canadians”.

While talking to the participants the High Commissioner stressed that Canada’s friendly investment regime is recognized for its low cost and low tax regime.

While talking to the Canadian High Commissioner, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi said that Pakistan enjoys cordial and friendly relations with Canada and pledged to carry these ties forward in the new Government.
