Islamabad - Tazeen Akhtar - Brazil is 7th biggest economy of the world and very friendly country for Pakistan. Brazil was the first in Latin America to recognize Pakistan in 1948 . Both countries established diplomatic relations soon after. Brazil was also first country in Latin America that opened embassy in Karachi in 1951. Therefore both the nations have a long and warm history of 66 years of cordial relations. Brazil is set to play its leading role in the world. There is huge potential of further enhancing the already close ties in different fields.

Bolsa Familia Program of Brazil Discussed in Pakistan Income Support Program

Islamabad - Tazeen Akhtar - Dr. Romulo Paes de Sousa, Director World Centre for Sustainable Development, Mr. Yasuhiko Matsuda, Senior Specialist from World Bank and Mr. Iftikhar Malik,Senior Social Protection Specialist, World Bank called on Chairman BISP Enver Baig at BISP Secretariat today. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss matters of mutual cooperation for the benefit of the poorest of the poor population of Pakistan.

PAKISTANI STUDENTS IN ROBOT SOCCER WORLD CUP BRAZIL

Islamabad - The Embassy of Brazil in Islamabad is proud to announce that a group of 7 Pakistani Students from the Center of Advanced Studies in Engineering (CASE) of Islamabad, are travelling to Brazil tomorrow, 18th July 2014, to take part in the International Robotics Competition, also known as RoboCup, to take place in the city of Joao Pessoa, in the Northeast of Brazil, from 19th to 25th July 2014. Delegations of 45 countries with 3,000 university students will take part in the event. More than 60,000 visitors are also expected to in Joao Pessoa.

LIYARI BECOMES BRAZIL

Islamabad - On the occasion of the FIFA Football World Cup-2014 Brazil, the Ambassador of Brazil, H.E. Mr. Alfredo Leoni, sent the Protocol Officer of the Embassy, Mr. Mazher Rafiq, to Liyari, Karachi, to deliver a message of appreciation to Liyarites for their support for the Brazilian Football Team and for the great esteem they show for Brazil and Brazilians.

Islamabad-in order to kick off the 2014 Football World Cup celebrations, the Ambassador of Brazil, Mr. Alfredo Leoni, Regional General Manager Marriott Hotels Pakistan, Mr Hartmut Noack, Ms. Rubina Irfan ,senator & chairperson of the women’s wing of the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) and the President of the Pakistan Football Federation, Mr. Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, inaugurated the photo exhibition “Football”, at the Marriott Hotel Islamabad.

PAKISTANI STREET CHILD FOOTBALL TEAM HONORED BY BRAZIL AMBASSADOR

Islamabad - Brazil-Pakistan relations are flourishing day by day in different spheres of life. Even our children are now contributing in cementing the already existing very cordial relations. On the occasion of the 2014 Football World Cup, which will take place in Brazil, on June and July this year, the Ambassador of Brazil, Mr. Alfredo Leoni, hosted a ceremony at the Embassy of Brazil in Islamabad, on 19th May 2014, in honor of the Pakistani Street Child Football Team, who was awarded the bronze medal at the Street Child Football World Cup, which took place in Brazil in April 2014.

ADMISSIONS OPEN FOR STUDIES IN BRAZIL

Islamabad-Pakistani students that are finishing their college can apply for an opportunity of having their University studies done in Brazil, with tuition costs covered by the Brazilian Government, through the Program for Exchange Students – Undergraduate (PEC-G). This Program has been in place for more than thirty years in Brazil, and Pakistan has been part of it since 2012.

Brazilian Experts agree to help Pakistan improve Social Safety Net Programme

Rio De Janerio -Chairman BISP, Enver Baig, held a meeting in Brazil, on the sidelines of the South-South forum, with Romulo Paes De Souza, former Deputy Minister for Social Development in the Government of Brazil, who led the world’s largest safety net cash transfer program, the BolsaFamilia, and Mr. Antonio Claret Campos Filho, Secretary of the State of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The representatives of the World Bank and UK’s DFID also attended the meeting.

Trade Delegation to Brazil by FCCI, Pakistan

Islamabad - A high profile Trade Delegation of Pakistani Businesspeople by the Faisalabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry will leave for Brazil on the 15th of March on a two weeks trip to explore the Brazilian market (7th largest economy in the world). This FCCI Trade Delegation to Brazil will be headed by Mr. Jamil Ahmad, Chairman of International Affairs and Trade Delegation FCCI and Commercial Advisor to the Embassy of Brazil in Pakistan.

BISP looking towards strong partnership with Brazil

Islamabad-A dinner was hosted by Mr. Alfredo Leoni, the Ambassador of Brazil in honour of Senator Muhammad Enver Baig, Chairman BISP on the eve of Chairman’s BISP departure to Brazil to attend a South-South learning forum. The forum is organized by the World Bank in partnership with the Government of Brazil and State of Rio De Janeiro. The purpose of the forum is to promote knowledge exchange amongst practitioners from low and middle-income countries and fragile states on the design and delivery of Social Protection and Labor (SP & L) systems.
