PM greets Australia on national day

ISLAMABAD, JAN 26 (DNA) -Prime Minister Raja Pervez Ashraf has felicitated the Prime Minister of Commonwealth of Australia, Her Excellency Ms. Julia Gillard MP, on the occasion of their National Day falling on 26th January.

In his message to the Prime Minister of Australia, the Prime Minister conveyed his warm and sincere greetings on behalf of the Government and people of Pakistan as well as his own behalf to the Government and the people of Australia on the auspicious occasion of their National Day.

Australia Day is on January 26 and commemorates the establishment of the first settlement at Port Jackson, now part of Sydney, in 1788. It is an opportunity for Australians to come together to celebrate their country and culture. Australia develops forensic project

ISLAMABAD, OCT 19 (DNA): Australia has introduced a new policy initiative to enhance its law enforcement engagement with Pakistan.A statement issued by Australian High Commission in Islamabad on Friday said that under the policy initiative‚ Pakistan Forensic Capacity Building Project was developed.

The Project has successfully delivered nine forensic training courses in Canberra to eighty-eight participants from Pakistan this month.

SHC stays culling of Australian sheep

KARACHI:24 sep- The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued a stay order until the next hearing in response to a petition filed against the culling of Australian sheep allegedly sick with anthrax.The SHC adjourned the hearing until Sept 27. There have been disputes within the medical committee, formed under the directives of the SHC, over the medical condition of the nearly 20,000 Australian sheep, which some say suffer from highly dangerous anthrax.

Australia ready to help Pakistan in capacity building: envoy

ISLAMABAD, SEPT 11 (Zaara Fatima) - Tremendous potential lies between the economies of Australia and Pakistan which need to be explored for enhancing bilateral trade relation between the business communities of both countries.
The Australian High Commissioner, Mr.Peter Heyward, made these remarks while addressing the business community at Islamabad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ICCI). He exchanged views on common interests and agreed to strengthen economic relations between the two countries.

Australian MPs call on Punjab Governor- Discuss ways to boost Pak-Australia mutual ties.

LAHORE, Sep 01 (Staff Reporter) The Australian Parliamentarians delegation‚ led by the President of Australian Senate‚ Senator John Hogg called on the Punjab Governor‚ Sardar Latif Khosa in Lahore on Saturday.They discussed ways to boost Pak-Australia mutual ties. The Governor said that Pakistan gives importance to its relations with Australia. He said that there exist vast opportunities of cooperation between the two countries in the fields of education‚ electricity and trade.

Senator John Hogg underlined the need for enhancing people to people contact between the two countries.

Australia welcomes Pakistan decision to attend Chicago NATO moot

ISLAMABAD, MAY 17, (DNA): Mr. Tim Georg Australian High Commissioner has said Pakistan’s decision to attend the Chicago NATO conference is a welcome step and we hope it will help improve relations between Islamabad and Washington.
This he said while addressing a press conference at a local hotel on Thursday.
Mr. Tim George further said, Pakistan and the United States are close friends both will have to work hand in hand for regional peace. He added, Afghanistan happened to be an important issue and it needs to be resolved sooner rather than later.
