The Australia-Pakistan Agriculture Sector Linkages Program (ASLP) Phase 2 Showcased

Islamabad (Staff Reporter)The contribution of Australian government in agriculture sector towards alleviation of rural poverty through agricultural productivity enhancement, livestock sector boost and water resources management is noteworthy, this was stated by Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research Sikandar Hayat Khan Bosan while addressing at the event titled “Showcasing ASLP Phase-II”.

NAWAZ VISIT TO AUSTRALIA NEXT YEAR

New York - Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sartaj Aziz held a meeting with Foreign Minister of Australia, Ms. Julie Bishop at the United Nations Headquarters here today.

During the meeting both sides discussed issues of bilateral interest. They also exchanged views on the current regional situation, including Afghanistan.

 

Both Ministers agreed to expand bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries. They also expressed satisfaction over the existing cooperation in the field of defense.

 

AUSTRALIAN DELEGATION VISITS BAHRIA UNIVERSITY

Islamabad - A delegation from Macquarie University Sydney Australia headed by Dr. Julian Droogan, Director Coordination Learning & Teaching, visited Bahria University Islamabad. He was accompanied by Mr. Tanveer Shaheed, Senior Country Manager (International) ,Mr. Azhar H Shah, Country & Regional Manager, Australian Government. During the visit the delegation met the Pro-Rector Bahria University, Rear Admiral (R) Saleem Akhtar and other senior management of the university.

AUSTRALIAN-PAKISTAN UNIVERSITIES WILL STRENGTHEN TIES

Islamabad-Leading Australian University, University of New South Wales (UNSW) signed an agreement with Pakistan’s National University of Science & Technology (NUST) to promote academic and educational cooperation between the two universities. UNSW’s Pro Vice Chancellor (Research) Professor Mark Hoffman and NUST’s Pro Rector (Academics) Dr. Asif Raza signed the agreement.

Australia allows import of Pakistani mangoes

Karachi (Monitoring Desk)Australia has finally allowed import of mangoes from Pakistan after ensuing that the fruit will meet all quality standards set by its quarantine and agriculture department, an exporter said on Thursday.

“Australia has approved importing mangoes from Pakistan during Eid holidays (August 8-10),” Abdul Qadeer Durrani, chief executive officer of Durrani Associates, said.

A Pakistani-born immigrants Mehreen Farooqi became the first Muslim woman, she was chosen by the Green Party of New South Wales, for the position of the upper house of parliament in the state to enter the Australian Parliament.
