WOMEN ARE BECOMING STRONGER- NO BIG DEAL IF A LADY BECOMES ARMY CHIEF ONE DAY - NAEEM A MIRZA

Islamabad (Staff Reporter) Chief Operating Officer, Aurat Foundation, Naeem A. Mirza has said that women in Pakistan are becoming more powerful and strong with the passage of time and it would not be a big deal if a woman, in the future, becomes Army Chief. 

He was addressing to a large number of women at PNCA on March 8th, International Women Day. Ahsas Welfare Foundation arranged the program with the cooperation of Aurat Foundation. 

Naeem A. Mirza said that Punjab Women Protection Bill is historical legislation for securing the rights of women. Men need not worry about empowerment of women. They both are essential part of society. Women's success is beneficial for men as well. Woman is partner of man through thick and thin. Man should give her respect and rights. 

On Women's right to call police if husband tortures, Naeem A.Mirza said that whenever there is something wrong in the home we call someone to correct or repair it. For example, we call electrician when light is out of order. Similarly when there would be some querrel in the home, someone would come to solve the problem. If men do not want the police to come in their homes, they do not let the things go worse. They do not torture their wives.

After his speech, Editor Tazeen Akhtar asked him if his remarks about a lady army chief are on record? Naeem A. Mirza said " Yes".
