USAID-funded Pakistan Reading Project Sponsoring 4th Annual Islamabad Literature Festival 2016

ISLAMABAD, April 15, 2016–The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) –funded Pakistan Reading Projectis sponsoringthe fourth annual Islamabad Literature Festival (ILF) at LokVirsaon April 15-17, 2016. The Pakistan Reading Project has set up a stall at the festival to highlight the importance of reading and a mobile bus library to bring age appropriate reading materials to the children, parents and teachers at the festival. USAID has sponsored multiplemobile bus libraries to support the culture of reading in Islamabad Capital Territory and rural communities in Sindh Province.  USAID plans to extend the mobile library network to Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.

The USAID-funded Pakistan Reading Projectis a $165 million project is designed to support provincial and regional departments of education to improve the reading skills of primary school children across the country.  The Pakistan Reading Project aims to improve the quality of early education by improving the classroom learning environment for reading; improving policies and systems for reading; and promoting community-based support for reading.
