Seminar on Efforts of Kazakhstan- Pakistan for Promotion of Global Peace

Islamabad(Staff Reporter)Participants of a seminar at International Islamic University, Islamabad (IIUI) have opined that interaction for the sake of peace was vital. They agreed that religious bias and racism should be discouraged for promoting tranquility across the world.

 They exchanged these views in a seminar on “Efforts of Kazakhstan and Pakistan for promotion of global peace through Congress of leaders of world and traditional religions” organized by the Islamic Research Institute (IRI) of IIUI on Friday here at Faisal Masjid campus.

Kazakhstan Ambassador, Barlybay Sadykov called for tolerance and partnership to fight against the leading challenges such as terrorism and proliferation of weapons of mass destruction. “World is in dire need of forums that facilitate genuine dialogue on global peace” he said. He furthered “we should step up efforts to overcome hatred, prejudice, stereotypes and bias”. The Ambassador told that world leaders and religious scholars were going to discuss the topic “ Religious leaders for the safe world” in a special session in Astana on October 11 and 12. He also highlighted the importance and efforts of congress of leaders through its secretariat.

IIUI President, Dr. Ahmed Yousif Al-Draiweesh called upon religious scholars of the Muslim world to devise a comprehensive policy to disseminate Islam’s message of peace. He stressed that role of the Muslim world universities was vital in promotion of global peace. He hoped that session of the religious leaders in Astana in coming month will be a constructive mustered. He maintained that IIUI was playing its due role in global peace and it had recently prepared a narrative against terrorism  and violence namely “ Paigham e Pakistan.

Dr. Muhammad Zia ul Haq, Director General, IRI also spoke on the occasion and discussed ties between Pakistan and Kazakhstan. He also shed light on the objectives of the seminar.

Earlier, the ambassador called on IIUI President and also visited the IRI printing press.
