President of Azerbaijan to visit Pakistan next year. Many agreements would be signed - Khurram Dastgir. Support of Kashmir would continue - Ali Alizade

Islamabad (Tazeen Akhtar) Examplary brotherly relations of Pakistan and Azerbaijan are going to take a new dimension next year when President H.H Ilham Aliyev will visit Pakistan. This would be the first ever visit of the highest dignitary of the friendly country to Pakistan. Both countries are looking forward to a quantum leap in bilateral cooperation as a result of this summit visit.

Pakistan is preparing to give the President the warmest welcome in a befitting manner to make this visit memorable and maximum benefitting for both nations. Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has already visited Azerbaijan in October 2016 and held very fruitful meeting with President Ilham Aliyev and other high officials in Baku. Both countries decided to enhance cooperate in all sectors in these meetings.

Here it is worth mentioning that President Ilham Aliyev and first lady H.E Mehriban Aliyeva are very kind to Pakistan. Azerbaijan always stood by Pakistan through thick and thin since the independence. First lady sends gifts for deserving children of Pakistan on Eid days regularly.

 Minister of Commerce Pakistan Mr. Khurram Dastgir has said that the President will sign agreements to promote cooperation in different fields. He was addressing the participants at a

Conference on “25th Anniversary of the Restoration of Independence of Azerbaijan & Azerbaijan-Pakistan relations”.here on 01 Dec 2016.

Khurram Dastgir said Pakistan highly valued its relations with Azerbaijan and is keen to increase the cooperation in all possible sectors of life. Both countries are working closely with Azerbaijan on different international forums including United Nations, He said that Pakistan appreciates  the role of Azerbaijan in Contact Group on Kashmir.

 “ Trade and energy sectors have high potential of enhancing the bilateral cooperation. The two countries have three layers of mutual ties; Government to Government (G-to-G) Business to Business (B-to-B) and People to People (P-to-P)”,he added.

Mr.Ali Alizade, Ambassador of Azerbaijan, in his welcome address said “

Azerbaijan would continue to support Pakistan on the issue of Kashmir and the problem should be resolved according to resolutions of United Nations.Azerbaijan attaches great importance to relations with Pakistan. We enjoy very cordial relations that come from the history, culture and religion.

He thanked Pakistan for supporting the stance of Azerbaijan against the aggression of Armenia in the region of Nagorno Karabakh. He lauded the visit of different ministers of Pakistan in recent years and said they wanted to promote ties in different fields including defence.

 Defence Attaché, Colonel Mehman Novruzov gave a detailed presentation on independence of Azerbaijan and the history of struggle towards shaping a democrat republic in this central region in between Europe and Asia. It is always heartening to listen that Azerbaijan was the first Muslim country that established a democratic republic in 1918.

Mr Sameer Quliyev of Azerbaijan embassy conducted the stage very intelligently.  

V.C Preston University, Dr Abdul Basit announced 10 scholarships for Azerbaijani students and said that the number of scholarships can be increased in the future if required.

The events was attended by a number of notable personalities from Islamabad and other cities. They included politicians, businessmen, civil society and media experts.

In short, efforts are on for strengthening the relations and would certainly bring the results that would not only benefit the two nations but other countries of the region as well.

An Azerbaijan- Pakistan business forum will be held in Baku on December 6. The event will be co-organized by Azerbaijan`s Ministry of Economy and Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation (AZPROMO)

Pakistani companies specializing in food industry, textile, poultry, pharmaceutical industry, manufacture of sport products, surgery tools, extraction industry, steel production, cosmetics, apparel, chemical products, logistics, various accessories and jewelry production will participate in the forum.
