PAKISTAN VALUES RELATIONS WITH UKRAINE - SAYS FEDERAL MINISTER IN RECEPTION ON 24TH INDEPENDENCE ANNIVERSARY

Islamabad(Tazeen Akhtar + Junaid Adil ) Federal Minister Defence Production Rana Tanveer Hussain has said that Pakistan gives great importance to relations with Ukraine. Pakistan was amongst the first courntries that recognised Ukraine as a soverign state after independence from Soviet Union. Two countries are cooperating with each other in different sectors including trade and defence. 

The Minister was addressing a notable gethering here last eve in Serena Hotel's magnificent hall that was filled with ambassadors, officials, businessman community, media persons and important personalities from all walks of life. The occasion was 24th Anniversary of Independence of Ukarine.

Chairman Senate Standing Committee on Defence Production Gen r Abdul Qayyum was also present. He headed Pakistan Ordnance Factories Wah Cantt and Pakistan Steel. 

Ambassador H.E Volodymyr Lakomov hosted a grand reception on this auspicious day of his country. Ambassador and staff of the embassy welcomed the distinguished guest with open arms and hearts. Their faces were glittering with happiness and pride. 

No doubt, it was a wonderful, well attended, amicably arranged reception that attracted full attention from government circles, defence institutions and diplomatic community.

Minister Rana Tanveer Hussain was the chief guest. He continued in his speech that Ukraine extended her cooperation with Pakistan in making of Tanks for our Army. He said that Ukraine was active participant of Defence Exhibition Ideas 2014. Pakistan values relations with Ukraine. Our close relationship will flourish with the passage of time. He admired Mr Lakomov for his continued efforst to bring both countries closer to each other. 

 Here it is worth mentioning that Federal Cabinet  approved agreement of  defence cooperation with Ukraine during the previous Government of  Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani. After the new Government of PM Nawaz this understanding countinued and Ambassador Lakomov held meetings with concerned officials including Rana Tanveer to further boost already present cooperation. 

Ambassador Volodymyr Lakomov, in his welcome address welcomed the guests and thanked the Minister for his continued support in bridging the gaps between the two countries. Ambassador said that Ukraine is keen to enhance relations with Pakistan. Two nations have many things in common and enjoy very cordial relations since the inception of diplomatic ties. H.E Lakomov expressed his full confidence that both courntries can go a long way hand in hand and shoulder to shoulder.

Erlier national anthems of both countries were played before cutting the cake of the anniversary. The guests were feasted with heart touching Ukraine music and deliceous food.
