Islamabad(Staff Reporter)President Mamnoon Hussain has said that there is an enormous potential for growth in economic cooperation and bilateral trade between Pakistan and Azerbaijan. Both countries should work together to benefit from these opportunities, he added. The President said this while talking to Finance Minister of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov who along-with a delegation called on him at the Aiwan-e-Sadr, Islamabad on Monday. 
On the occasion, Finance Minister of Azerbaijan also delivered a special message of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to President Mamnoon Hussain. President Mamnoon Hussain emphasized that there should be frequent exchange of trade and business delegations between the two countries in order to enhance the bilateral trade. He also underlined that joint ventures should also be started in various fields. 
The President stated that the two countries have common position on key global and regional issues and they support each other in the international forum which is a reflection of close and brotherly relations between the both counties. He said that Pakistan supports the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan within its internationally recognized borders and particularly supports Azerbaijan on the issue of Nagorno-Karabakh. He also appreciated Azerbaijan’s stance on the issue of Jammu and Kashmir. 
Finance Minister for Azerbaijan said that Azerbaijan supports Pakistan’s stance on the issue of Kashmir and believes that this issue can be resolved according to the resolutions of United Nations Security Council. He also stated that Azerbaijan is desirous of further enhancing cooperation with Pakistan in various economic sectors.
Finance Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Samir Sharifov Monday had a brief visit to Pakistan and delivered a special message from the Azeri president to the Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi to seek support of Pakistan for hosting Expo 2025 and World Bank Conference 2021 by Azerbaijan, in Baku.
The prime minister assured consideration to the request for the support of hosting the above mentioned conferences.The two sides exchanged views on possible cooperation in areas of mutual interest, especially in the energy and agricultural sectors and discussed various measures to enhance bilateral trade.
They also discussed the current situation in Indian occupied Kashmir and Nagorno-Karabakh and reiterated continued mutual support on those disputes.
Minister of State for Finance, Rana Mohammad Afzal received his Azerbaijanese counterpart, Mr. Samir Sharifov for a meeting here on Monday. Mr. Samir was accompanied by the Azerbaijan Ambassador Ali Alizad on the occasion. Welcoming the visiting dignitary, Rana Afzal said that both Pakistan and Azerbaijan enjoy cordial relations in all spheres. He emphasized the need to focus on expanding economic cooperation. 
Both sides agreed there was potential for furthering bilateral trade and that joint efforts must be made for enhancing trade relations in step with ties in other areas. Mr. Samir Sharifov said that Azerbaijan was offering educational scholarships to different Muslim countries and that Pakistan students were also welcome to avail these. Minister Rana Afzal welcomed the suggestion. He added that Pakistan wished to seek opportunities for export of technically trained personnel to Azerbaijan.
