Pakistan‚ Kuwait sign 4 MoUs for cooperation

ISLAMABAD (Staff Reporter) PM Nawaz Sharif has said Pakistan attaches special importance to its relations with Kuwait. Pakistan and Kuwait today signed four Memoranddums of Understanding in the fields of investment‚ extradition‚ labour and visa waiver at diplomatic and official levels.Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his Kuwait counterpart Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamd Al-Sabah witnessed the signing ceremony.

Two treaties on extradition and visa waiver for the holders of diplomatic‚ special and official passports were signed by Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan and Kuwait’s Deputy Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Khalid.

An Amended Protocol on Labour was signed by Secretary Labour Munir Qureshi and Kuwait’s Under Secretary for Foreign Affairs Khalid Suleman.

A Memorandum of Understanding on Investment was signed by Chairman Board of Investment Muhammad Zubair and Badr ul Saad of Kuwait’s Investment Authority.

Earlier‚ Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif and his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah held formal talks in Islamabad today.

The talks focused on strengthening bilateral relations and enhancing cooperation in diverse areas‚ especially trade and energy.

Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has said Pakistan attaches special importance to its relations with the Kingdom of Kuwait.

He said this in a meeting with his Kuwaiti counterpart Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah who met the Prime Minister in Islamabad today. During the meeting‚ views were exchanged on bilateral and regional matters.

The Prime Minister reaffirmed the importance Pakistan attaches to brotherly relations with Kuwait‚ which are marked by growing trade as well as close cooperation in the defence sector.

He said that Kuwait also hosts a large Pakistani community including labor which are making positive contributions to the development of Kuwait and is sending remittances supporting Pakistan's economy as well.

He also stressed the importance of deepening investment ties to impart greater vigor to the economic partnership between the two countries.

Kuwaiti Prime Minister said Pakistan has been a trustworthy friend and the people of Kuwait keep Pakistanis in the highest regards.

Earlier‚ the Prime Minister of Kuwait was received by Muhammad Nawaz Sharif at the PM House and a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Military presented Guard of Honor.

The Prime Minister also hosted luncheon in honor of the visiting Prime Minister of Kuwait and his delegation.

Later‚ Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif hosted luncheon in honor of visiting Kuwaiti Prime Minister and his delegation.
