NAWAZ VISIT TO AUSTRALIA NEXT YEAR

New York - Adviser to the Prime Minister on National Security and Foreign Affairs, Mr. Sartaj Aziz held a meeting with Foreign Minister of Australia, Ms. Julie Bishop at the United Nations Headquarters here today.

During the meeting both sides discussed issues of bilateral interest. They also exchanged views on the current regional situation, including Afghanistan.

 

Both Ministers agreed to expand bilateral trade and economic relations between the two countries. They also expressed satisfaction over the existing cooperation in the field of defense.

 

During the meeting the expected visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif to Australia early next year was also discussed which would give a boost to bilateral relations.  Mr. Aziz also extended invitation to the Australian Foreign Minister to visit Pakistan.

 

Secretary Foreign Affairs, Mr. Aizaz Ahmad Chaudhry and Pakistan's Ambassador to United States, Mr. Jalil Abbas Jilani were also present during the meeting.
