Brussels, Jun 8 (Prensa Latina) Peoples of Latin America and Europe will raise their voices this week in this European capital on occasion of the summit meeting of the ´´Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac) and the European Union (EU).

Under the slogan â Building Alternatives´´, the Summit of the Peoples to be held on June 11, will be a space to debate on topics as the respect for the rights of women, the attention to minorities, poverty, the respect for human rights, communication media and the environment, among others.

In this hour when the world suffers a global crisis, 99 percent of its inhabitants is affected by the policies of one percent, a policy of austerity which increases private benefits and is far from profitable for the peoples, says the summons to the event.

But the people rises and claims what belongs to it. Awakens to an alternative to the neoliberal perspective of the crisis and feels the need to share experiences and join efforts in the struggle, it stresses.

During a session of the Eurolatinamerican Parliamentary Assembly (Eurolat), held from June 3 to 5 in this capital, participants worked respectfully in issues that could be consensual taking into account the urgencies of the world nowadays.

A very important moment of the venue was a meeting of civil society organizations.

Many of those organizations take part in the prep of the Summit of Peoples, reason for which issues of human and social interest were approached.

In that regard it was said that government policies in many countries of the EU are not taking into account the human being.

They also made reference to the high levels of unemployment, to which the so-called adjustment policies lead the population to a dead-end street and said with force how policies are at the service of the economy and not of persons.

Those organizations took that reality before parliamentarians to denounce it, so that it was reflected as part of the worries of the agenda of Eurolat and in order to be presented to the presidents of the 2nd Celac-EU summit to be held June 10-11.
