Berlin: February 06, 2013-The Kashmir Solidarity Day was observed at the Embassy of Pakistan, Berlin last evening. The event was attended by a large members of Pakistani Community and representatives of Kashmiris belonging to Indian-Occupied Kashmir, besides German students and representatives of the cross sections of German society.

Ambassador Abdul Basit, in his remarks said that the voice of the people of Jammu & Kashmir for their self-determination could not be suppressed by force. Kashmiris were destined to succeed in their legitimate struggle as the soul of freedom was for ever to live. He underlined the need for unity in the ranks of Kashmiris to achieve their freedom.

Other Speakers appealed to the German political leadership, Human Rights Organizations and media persons to listen to the voice of the Kashmiri people who were being subjected to state tyranny for decades. They have been deprived of the right to self-determination as enshrined in the relevant United Nations Resolutions and also endorsed by India. Kashmiri Speakers particularly commended Pakistan’s valuable diplomatic and moral support for the legitimate cause of Kashmiris. They lamented that major powers were showing indifference to their cause for economic and commercial considerations.

A documentary highlighting the grisly violation of human rights in Indian held Kashmir was also shown on the occasion.
