Islamabad, January 22, 2018: : The security personnel of Pakistan  have rendered great sacrifices for maintaining law and order and its officials have written golden chapter in the history with their blood to counter the menace of terrorism and for rule of law.

It was stated by Ambassador Azerbaijan to Pakistan Ali Alizada here on Monday during a ceremony held to remember those who sacrificed their lives to root out the menace of terrorism in Pakistan and the martyres of Black January of Azerbaijan when Russian troops stormed into Baku.

A smartly turned out contingent of Islamabad police also presented guard of honor to the visiting dignitary on his arrival to Police Line Headquarters.

On the occasion, Special Secretary Interior Rizwan Malik appreciated the efforts of Islamabad police and thanked the Ambassador for attending the ceremony. He said that that whole world is facing the terrorism but Pakistan has led from the front to stamp out terrorism and enthusiasm as well as commitment of personnel of law enforcement agencies against this menace is really appreciable.

 Ambassador of Azerbaijan appreciated the security personnel who sacrificed their lives for safe future of their country. He  said that terrorism is common enemy of the international community and there is dire need to  joint efforts to root out this menace..” We know that along with other law enforcement agencies, Police of Pakistan have been battling against the terrorists to flush them out of country”, he maintained.

“ The heroism and sacrifices of the martyrs steadfastly remain as signs of honor and pride for the people of Azerbaijan and Pakistan who will always stand in recognition, respect, and gratitude for the faithful martyrs,” he maintained.

He said that words cannot express the sacrifices of those heroes who gave their lives willingly to protect the country.”  Commemoration of the martyrs is a much deserved recognition for the righteous sacrifices that the martyrs made for their homeland,” he maintained.  

Ambassador said that "Commemoration Day of the Martyrs of Azerbaijan that falls on January 20 remained in the memory of the people of Azerbaijan as a day of  sorrow and at the same time day of pride. But today is double honor for us because we are commemorating also the Martyrs of our brotherly country, the brave sons and daughters of great Pakistani nation."

Twenty eight years ago, on January 20, 1990, Soviet troops were invadedinto the city of Baku by order of the Kremlin in an ultimately failed attempt to save Communist rule andsuppress Azerbaijan's independence movement. 

IGP Islamabad Sultan Azam Temuri said that that peace has been ensured in the city by the police officials through sacrificing their lives. “ Islamabad police have won the laurel of success through the efforts and sacrifices of such officials and every possible effort would be made to ensure protection to the lives and property of the citizens,” he added.

“Our force is cognizant of challenges and every problem will be countered through capacity building of the force and cooperation of the community,” the IGP added.

He said that we have gathered to collectively honor the martyrs of Azerbaijan and Pakistan. “ We are proud of our martyrs as well as martyrs of Azerbaijan who laid down their precious lives to fight against menace of terrorism and to safeguard their country”, he added.

Ambassadors of Turkey and Belarus, D.H.M Ukraine was present at this occasion.
